ITEM: This black man was missing his right eye. Psychiatrist reported to sentencing judge on 4-9-45: "he is mentally defective, borderline level...IQ of 64 on the Bellevue Intelligence Scale... high grade moron." Previous history of institutionalization in Letchworth (State hospital for retarded). His case, through the execution, was covered by the Amsterdam News.
